I am a cutter and I have been self harming since age 6 and the counselor asked me if I have ever tried ice cubes and I thought wow that's the most intelligent and helpful Suggestion That any doctor has ever said to me it was refreshing to hear something useful I'm blown away. I feel that I am being treated with respect and in my past the vast majority counselors that I have seen have formed an opinion about cutting and think they know all about me because they went to school I've been doing this for 28 years and it's not so black and white and for the first time in my life I feel like that knowledge either came from a cutter or from a mind that really listened to us and really understood what myself and others like me are trying to achieve when we self harm.
